Leaving Europe
On October 14th 2016, I boarded the 214 meter cargo vessel Grande Africa in Hamburg, together with my truck ‘El Toro’ and my dirt bike ‘Luzy’. Crossing the equator on the sea way was one of the top items on my bucket list. I’m now officially baptized by Neptune and a mermaid to the name ‘Hammerhead Shark’.
The six weeks trip from Hamburg to Uruguay aboard the Grande Africa was a great experience. Being exposed to the elements in the open sea, while enjoying a quite save shelter aboard the big ship had a touch of an adventurous spirit to it. At the same time, the long duration of the journey inevitably confronted me with myself along the way.
On November 25th we disembarked in Uruguay. Now the steering wheel is in my hands…
